Consultancy service
A clear read on where the risk sits, what your realistic options are, and which one we would take — rather than a summary of the law and a wish of luck.
What this covers
There is a particular kind of employment advice that is technically correct and practically useless: a note that sets out three options, describes the risk of each, and leaves the decision entirely with you. It protects the adviser. It does not help the headteacher who has to decide something by Friday.
Our advice always ends with a view. We will tell you what the exposure genuinely is — distinguishing between a claim someone might bring and a claim they might win — and what we would do in your position. You remain the decision-maker, but you are deciding with a recommendation in front of you.
Dismissal and dismissal risk. Settlement agreements and protected conversations. Discrimination, harassment and reasonable adjustments. Contractual variation, including where national terms constrain what you can change. Working time, holiday pay and pay calculation questions. Family leave and flexible working. Whistleblowing and detriment. Fixed-term and casual worker status. Restructure and redundancy consultation obligations.
We are an HR consultancy staffed by CIPD-qualified practitioners, not a firm of solicitors. We do not provide legal representation and we do not conduct tribunal advocacy. Where a matter needs formal legal advice, privileged advice or representation, we say so early and work alongside your legal advisers rather than in place of them — usually preparing the factual and procedural groundwork so their time is spent on the legal question rather than the file.
Please note: nothing on this website constitutes legal advice, and employment legislation changes. Advice is given on the law as it stands at the time of the engagement and is specific to the facts you give us.
How you can buy it
A monthly fee for named-contact access to advice by phone and email, with agreed response times and a set allocation of document review. Best where questions arrive weekly.
A single question or a single case, scoped and priced on its own. Best where you have internal HR and need a second view on something specific.
A fixed-scope assessment of a live situation — usually one that has already gone some distance — returning a written view on exposure and options.
FAQs
Retained clients have agreed response times, typically same working day for urgent questions. For non-retained clients we will always tell you honestly on first contact whether we can meet your deadline.
If something is genuinely time-critical — a hearing tomorrow, a deadline expiring — say so immediately rather than sending an email and waiting.
Book a free 30-minute call. We will tell you what we think, and whether it needs more than a conversation.
